Marin Alsop (b. 1956), Conductor and Violinist

The first ever female conductor at the" world's largest and longest running music festival", the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London .

On one hand I am extraordinarily proud to be the first woman to conduct but I am also sad that it is 2013 and there still can be firsts for women. I think we have to create more opportunities for women to be seen in these types of leadership roles.

Welcome!

In this blog I intend to do some historical justice to the many, many women who have contributed with their genius, creativity, adventurous spirit, nurturing - amongst other qualities - to the apparent linear and male dominated prescribed notion of History. This is just the beggining.
